3 months old

K turned 3 months old today.  It seems like just yesterday I was pregnant and she was still in the womb. Today we went to Tiburon and celebrated Auntie Alice's birthday at Sam's cafe. It was a nice outdoor restaurant overlooking the water. We enjoyed clam chowder and dungeness crab sandwiches.

This morning K napped in her crib for two and a half hours straight. Her naps are becoming longer in her crib. Before she would sleep 30 mins in the crib, wake up and then I would rock her and put her back down in the crib and she would wake up within 5 mins.  As a result, I would end up holding her to sleep for another hour to an hour and a half after since I knew she was still tired and needed her beauty rest.  This past week I tried not holding her for her naps anymore to give my hands a break and so I can get some housework done as well. When she woke up in her crib, I let her toss and turn and eventually she fell back asleep. Hopefully her long naps in the crib continue! Maybe it's a sign she is growing up.

Happy 3 months

New Chair In The House

Thanks Auntie Lauren for letting K borrow the bumbo. We promise to give it back before your next baby! We hope to have K sit in it while Daddy and I enjoy our dinner.  Don't you love how K's outfit is color coordinated and matches the chair!

Sunrise Smiles

Daddy's favorite part of the day is when he goes to K's crib and greets her in the morning. This is what he finds. She will first look at him and then K will hold her hands up and give Daddy a great big smile. People have told us when your child smiles at you; it will melt your heart. This is so true!! This makes up for her starting her day at 6:15 am! Even though we are sleep deprived, how can we resist but pick her up and give her a big fat kiss. Daddy says this is better than morning coffee!

Four Generations

In this photo spans 4 generations. Great grandma is 87, grandma is 59, mommy is 33 and K is 5 days shy of 3 months! Hopefully one day I will have a picture like this with K's child, but that won't be for many decades.

A Day In The Park

K is not a big fan of the car seat or stroller. She cries every time we put her in either, but we have been trying to take her out more, so she can get use to being in them. This past weekend, we decided to find some local parks to stroll K around in. Daddy found one in San Mateo where there is a Japanese tea garden and koi fish to see. Too bad K fell asleep and was not able to enjoy the sights. We had a great time though. We picked up Amici's pizza and ate it at a park bench. K was very curious and checked out her surroundings of kids playing catch.

We were actually able to catch K with some smiles in the carseat...progress!

Sitting Up

K loves to lie on her back but we don't want her to have a flat head, so we have been trying to practice her siting up more. If she enjoys sitting up then we can hold her on our lap when we go out to dinner at a restaurant. Here is our attempted efforts of her sitting up. In the first picture, she did quite well for 8 secs. Then she started to slide in the second picture. Finally we got some help from Mr. Giants Bear.

Facetime

Auntie Caorline had baby Aiden on June 21. They live in New Hampshire, but today we tried face timing them so K could meet her new cousin. Technology is amazing these days. We can't wait for them to come during Christmas so we can see him in person!

Now K is more interested in posing for the camera

Cousin Aiden is such a cutie!

I heart SF

Auntie Melissa came to visit. She came all the way way from New York but was born and raised in the Bay Area. We have been friends since freshman year of high school. She brought over a cute onesie for K as a gift. It shows the Golden Gate Bridge, Transamerica building and Koit Tower. Auntie Melissa asked that we take a picture of K wearing the onesie, so here K is proudly wearing it.

Nap Saver

All Mom's and Dad's need to get an exercise ball. My coworker, Mariam came over to visit K one day and brought it over for us. She used the ball when her daughter was younger and fussy and bounced her to sleep. We decided to give it a try and let me tell you...this ball works wonders! Whenever K is fighting a nap and cranky, we bounce her on the ball and within 10 mins her eyes are shut. If we are lucky, sometimes it only even takes 2-5 mins. We eventually want to stop using the ball, so K can learn to sleep on her own. But in the meantime, we are getting a good ab and leg work out at the same time.

Tummy Time

According to the pediatrician, tummy time is needed a couple times a day to make K's neck stronger and eventually lead to her learning how to crawl. She has been practicing every day. She use to kick and scream and cry when we first started doing tummy time. But she actually doesn't mind it now. Once her head becomes stronger we can finally use the Bjorn that is recommended for 3 month old babies. She doesn't like the Ergo since it's not forward facing. K is one curious baby and loves to check out the world.

Look how high she can hold her head up now!

She even smiles during and enjoys tummy time now.

Happy One Year Anniversary!

Today Daddy and I celebrated our one year anniversary. How time has flown by. What an eventful year for us with K coming into our lives! We celebrated by having brunch at Foreign Cinema. It was delicious!! It's now my new favorite brunch place. Since we figured we will hardly have the chance to go out just the 2 of us, we ordered 3 entrees and raw oysters for appetizer.

Shitake mushroom omelette with fotina and herbs along with garlic potatoes & arugula salad

Fried egg drizzled with balsamic under slow cooked pork

Baguette french toast with strawberry lime butter

Complimentary mango and watermelon granita

Thanks Po Po and Gung Gung for watching K!

Night time Experiment

We have noticed K is really cranky and tired around 7:00 each evening. We have been putting her down for bed between 8:30 and 9:30. She would sleep until 2am or 3am for a feeding and start her day between 6 and 7am. The scientist in Daddy wanted to experiment and try putting K down at 7:30 and seeing how long she would sleep for. Would she wake up earlier or would she still sleep until 2 or 3am?? That same night he wanted to see if she would sleep in her crib also. K has been sleeping in the pack and play in our room but it doesn't provide a firm support for K 's back and it was time for her to get use to her crib.

Daddy's experiment was successful! K still slept until 3am and didn't cry until it was feeding time. She also lasted in her crib and started her day at 6:30am. So now we can put her down earlier and have some time to ourselves and we have a happier baby since she is well rested. Win-win situation for all :) But that's see how the next night goes..more to come.

Here's a picture of K when we first put her down

Here's where she ended up when she woke up in the morning. What a wiggler! She turned 180 degrees!

First Shopping Trip!

K went on her first shopping trip to Stanford Mall in Palo Alto. We strolled her around and she fell asleep for 35 mins. I was able to shop quickly for the first time in a long time, but I found myself wanting to shop for K instead of myself. Go figure. I just ended up buying a cute Janie and Jack dress that was on sale for $18 dollars. What a deal for that store! And what trip to Palo Alto wouldn't be complete without Daddy getting his favorite dessert--Sprinkles. Sprinkle's flavor of the month was lemon blueberry. YUM! K got tired of the stroller so Daddy ended up having to hold her.

Ellen & Steven's Wedding

K attended her first wedding at the Burlingame Marriott for Daddy's cousin, Ellen. K did pretty well sitting on Daddy's lap until the first course. When salad was served, K started crying and Daddy had to take her outside to rock her and she fell asleep for the rest of the night. Daddy held her while I fed him his whole meal. Congrats to Ellen & Steve!

K even had her own place card!
