Welcome Ashley

Over the weekend, we met baby Ashely. She is K's new cousin. She was born 7 days ago!

K looks like a giant compared to her!

We also celebrated great grandma's 87th birthday at Asian Pearl (where Daddy and I had our wedding reception). It was pretty funny...the managers of the restaurant who helped coordinate our wedding, met K for the first time. I think they were a little surprised how fast we had a baby, but they wished us congrats and were happy for us. K was a really good girl!  She stayed in her car seat and stroller for over 1.5 hours while we enjoyed a banquet style dinner. Freddie the firefly kept her entertained.

In recent news, K has been extending her head up high with arms bent. We call this the "push up "stance.

Here she is practicing her swimmie moves. Maybe it's time to enroll her into swim classes soon.

After a rigorous workout of 5 push ups and 30 secs of swimmies, K is tired and needs a break.

Footsie

K's new thing is a fascination with her foot. She is always trying to put her feet in her mouth especially when we are changing her diaper. Kinda gross if you ask me with all the toe jam and lint trapped in there.

K multi tasking- foot in one hand while playing with her toy.

Surprise Email

Today I received an email from Denise, a mom who works at Genentech. She also brings her daughter, Lovey to Lolita's daycare.  It was really sweet of Denise to write to me and share how Katelyn's day is going.  See below.  It made my day! Like I said before, it's the little things in life that matter :)

K is the youngest one at daycare. All the toddlers are pretty friendly and curious to see K whenever we drop her off. Many of them come up to her and try to touch and kiss her. Even though in the back of my head, I think omg so many germs! I'm glad she has friends that like her and want to play with her. It will definitely help K's socialization skills and help build up her immunity for the long term.

HI Pam
I just wanted to share – I was just talking to Lovey on the phone and she was also saying peek a boo to a baby in the back ground.  I heard this baby cracking up laughing so I asked who it was.  She said it is baby Kaitlyn mommy.  She likes me to make her laugh.    So Kaitlyn is having a great happy day :D

Daycare Excitement

This morning when we dropped K off at daycare, Lolita told us she thinks K is ready to sit in a high chair.  K will be eating solids in about a month, so this will help prepare her to sit up when she eats.

Lolita also said K is ready for the exersaucer! She thinks her head is strong enough now.  Lolita put a pillow under K's feet though since her toes do not reach the ground yet. K seemed to enjoy it and bounced up and down right away. Not surprising- given how active she is. The picture turned out a little blurry since Daddy took it on his iphone. That's K's friend, Eli in the background.

I guess we can assemble the high chair and exersaucer in our condo now. They are still boxed up to conserve space, but it's time to break them open.  That's what happens when you have a baby...the whole house suddenly belongs to your child's toys!

Fishie Fishie

K got to experience her first trip to the aquarium. We went to Aquarium of the Bay at Fisherman's Wharf. The place was not that big, but it was good enough to peak K's interest. We saw sting rays, sharks, starfishes, frogs, Nemos, octopuses, sturgeons and much more.  She enjoyed walking through the tunnels of fish tanks and at the same time did some people watching as well. She is one curious girl!

This was her intrigued expression as she looked up at the sharks swimming on top across the tank.

Pretty cool looking jellyfish

Starfish

Since K was so fascinated by the fishes...which aquarium should we go to next...Monterey, Academy of Science?

Old Pals

Auntie Lauren and Tristan dropped by for a visit today. Tristan is one of K's oldest buddies (given she's only 4.5 months old). Tristan, Court and K had monthly play dates during the summer when all the mommies were on maternity leave, so the three of them have practically grown up together. Auntie Lauren would call our condo, T's second home!

Our babies are growing up so fast! The top pic was taken when K was only two weeks old. Thank goodness she is a calmer baby now. T is crawling now and has 4 teeth and Auntie Lauren has a new sexy mom do!  In the pic below, K shows some affection to T by touching his arm.

T answers back by trying to kiss her ear!

T is definitely one of the world's cutest babies! LOVE his smile!

Weekend Festivites

On Saturday, K spent time at great grandma's house (who is 94 years old!) Great Grandma was ecstatic to hold and see K. This picture is pretty endearing as you can see how much she loves K. Also included in the pic are Auntie Tiffany, Rayden and Kaylyn.

Grandma was also happy to see K. We don't get to see her too often since she lives in Sacramento, but she always showers K with hugs and kisses whenever we see her.

On Sunday, we attended the 5th annual family BBQ at Lake Chabot in Hayward. It was hosted by Auntie Kristine. She is a fantastic cook and comes up with creative and new things for us to feast on each year. One of the items on this year's menu included a seafood broil with tons of giant shrimp, potatoes, mussels and even lobster tails. She cooked it directly on the charcoal for 4 hours! I wish I charged my camera battery, so I can show how mouth watering it looked. I only took this picture of K and Auntie Suzy before the battery died. The BBQ area was pretty sunny and I forgot K's hat, so cousin Christian let her borrow his 49er cap. That's two strikes for mommy's forgetfulness!  It was relaxing day-eating and spending time with family. K even met two new friends from our extended family baby Connor & Alexis. Hopefully at next year's BBQ, K can walk and play with them. Connor is 1 1/2 and Alexis is 1.

After a weekend of fun, K and Daddy spent some quiet time together reading books.

4 Month Check Up

On Thursday, K went to her 4 month check up. She weighs 14 pounds, 14ozs. She is in the 75th percentile in weight. I think she may have gotten her baby fat from me. Grandma said when I was a baby, I was super fat and chunky.

K measured 25.5 inches in height which is the 90th percentile. Dr. Mason said her height might eventually taper off, but it would be awesome if she grew up to be taller than Daddy and I. Her head circumference is 16.25 cm which is the 50th percentile. Her head may be on the littler side since I have trouble finding her hats that fit.

Dr. Mason also said K is definitely an active baby. Check her out...we definitely have a grabber in the house.
First she reaches for the stethoscope.

Next she goes for the doc's tie. What a funny girl I have!

All in all, Dr Mason said K seems to be a pretty happy baby. We will see him again at her 6 month check up.

Back To The Grind

Today was my first day back at work.  So far, it was not as bad as how I would imagine it would be. I have an office now and our department admin packed up my stuff when I was out, so my boss told me to unpack and take it easy today! I had fun decorating my office with pictures of K. I know every day won't be such a breeze. It does sound like I will be really busy with a lot of projects coming my way.

Allen and I carpooled today, so we got to drop off and pick up K together. Lolita said K is very friendly. She is laughing a lot and is a chatterbox by trying to talk all day. It's comforting to know she is adjusting well at daycare.  I still miss her during the day, but the best part is picking her up and seeing her face light up when she sees me! I now have something to look forward to every day!

Here's a pic of us taken when she was 2 months old! This reminds me of how fast she grows up and to treasure every moment!

First Giants Game

Today, K went to her first Giant's game against the Diamondbacks. We didn't get there until the 3rd inning since K slept in until 9am after her 5am feeding and her nap schedule ended up being later. It was a lot of fun and we stayed until the top of the 9th inning. Sadly we won't be able to go to another game until next season!

Pregame photo with Daddy. Thanks for the onesie Uncle Dan & Auntie Mel!

Uncle Richard & Auntie Tammy got these adorable Giants booties which was perfect for the game!

Too bad K is not looking at the camera for our family photo!

Chilling at our seats. Her bib says it all!

It was a Star Wars theme at the game. There were Hans Solo & Chawbaccas everywhere. We happened to run across some Stormtroppers and they offered to take a pic with K.

After the game, we attended a family bbq at Auntie Diane's house with all the fixings. We celebrated cousin Ethan's 10th birthday.

This is Auntie Annie. You can't see, but she is expecting baby Ashley in October. K will have a new playmate soon! YAY!!

Doesn't Uncle Derek look like he's on his way to growing a "fear the beard" look?

On Saturday we walked around the Millbrae Art & Wine Festival and found Uncle Rob's booth for State Farm.

Eyelashes

I couldn't help but check out K's eyelashes when she was sleeping the other day. They are getting super long and full. I can see the right side is even starting to curl a little. I wish I had long eyelashes like hers! Now we just have to work on getting a double eyelid!
